Clad metal for Nordic cookware brands
Nordic buyers pay for durability and expect the paperwork to be complete before the first container. Long warranties turn material consistency into a commercial issue, not a technical one.

What makes the Nordic market different
Labour cost is high and press shops are automated, so material that runs predictably is worth more than material that is marginally cheaper. A lot that wrinkles costs a shift; a lot that runs clean pays for its premium in a week.
That shifts the conversation from price per kilo to cost per good part, which is a conversation a supplier with consistent annealing and cutting can have.
The compliance file is table stakes
Nordic brands sell into markets where food-contact declarations are expected and where packaging producer responsibility is registered by the importer. The material side is the declaration of compliance under Regulation (EC) 1935/2004, the SVHC statement, and the per-grade test reports. The packaging registration is the importer's, and it is worth separating the two lists before the first shipment.
Long warranties expose lot variation
A five or ten year warranty on a pan means the material has to behave the same way in year three as in year one. That is a supply-chain property, not a specification property: it depends on the anneal being repeatable, the grade being the same, and the retained samples existing.
When a Nordic buyer asks for a retained sample per lot, that is why.
Ports and transit
Gothenburg, Aarhus and Helsinki are the usual entries. Transit is longer than to southern Europe and the material spends more time in a container, which makes moisture protection and pallet condition more important than in a short-sea route.
First order pattern
A sample set, a forming trial in the brand's own tooling, then a programme with a forecast. Nordic brands rarely place a single large speculative order; they place a smaller first order and then schedule against a forecast. Supplying a forecast-driven programme is a different commitment from supplying one-off orders, and it should be discussed as such.
Questions
Common questions
Do you issue an EU declaration of compliance?
Yes. The declaration names the structure, the grades in contact with food, the intended use and the conditions it covers, and it is issued against the combination actually supplied rather than a generic template for the product family.
Who handles packaging producer responsibility?
The importer of record registers in the destination country. We supply the material and packaging data the registration may ask for.
Which ports do you ship to?
Gothenburg, Aarhus and Helsinki are the usual entries. The port is stated in the quotation with the Incoterm.
Can you hold a lot for a warranty claim?
Retained samples per lot can be agreed at order stage. They are the practical way to settle a claim years later.
Is mirror finish available?
Yes, though most Nordic ranges use satin or brushed because a mirror face shows marks and needs care instructions.
Do you supply strip for automated presses?
Yes, slit to width. The coil weight and width tolerance are agreed against your decoiler and die.
